Easy DIY Christmas gifts are affordable, simple and thoughtful. These Easy DIY gift ideas will be ones you use year after year for the Christmas giving season.

Christmas gifts can get so expensive for those friends and family you care about. I’ve shared how I bought gifts second hand with do “Thrift-mas“. Affordable gifts that are thrifted can still say so much to that person you give to. However, so can a DIY gift.
DIY FOOD CHRISTMAS GIFTS
What better gift to share than food! We all enjoy treats and goodies every so often, so why not make some Christmas gifts in the kitchen.

Cookies and treats are always a hit for gifting to neighbors and people you want to say thank you to; like the mailman, delivery person, Sunday school teacher, etc.
These are some of the cookies and treats that I have used over the past many years for Christmas.
- The Best Chewy Ginger Molasses Cookies – This is one of my families favorites. You can use my own molasses cookie recipe found here on my blog.
- Frosted Butterscotch Cookie – This is such a unique cookie and so yummy. The original recipe is found in Gooseberry Patch Christmas book #5. It seems as though it cannot be found online, so I am sharing a similar printable recipe for you below!
- Rosemary Shortbread Cookie – This is the cookie recipe that I follow. I rolled my dough out and made them into shapes instead of rounds this year!
- White Chocolate Cranberry Cookie – I recently started making this white chocolate cranberry cookie recipe to add to my Christmas goodie baskets. They are so delicious and a beautiful cookie.
- Oreo Balls – Such a simple oreo ball recipe and quite the hit. A fun one for kids to help in to with rolling and dipping the balls in almond bark.
- Candied Almonds – Adding something salty and crunchy to a Christmas goodie box is always a nice change. This Candied Almonds recipe will be one that people will ask for.
- Puppy Chow (Muddy Buddies) – Another fun one to make with the kids! A simple and fun peanut butter, chocolate and powder sugar treat that most people enjoy. There are many recipes out there and I honestly think they are very similar. Here is the puppy chow recipe that I have used most often.
OTHER DIY CHRISTMAS GIFTS
Even if you are not crafty, these gifts can be accomplished in short time. I am not the most crafty person, but I enjoy doing a few DIY Christmas gifts none the less.
This year these are the DIY non “treat” gifts that I made.
- Beeswax candles – I used this DIY Beeswax Candle recipe from Farmhouse On Boone as my guide. Adjust the flavors with your favorite essential oils or leave it out all together.

- Chapstick – This DIY Chapstick was also found from Farmhouse on Boone. I used peppermint essential oil in mine and it turned out lovely.

- Homemade Vanilla – This is a gift that people will absolutely appreciate! If possible, start it in the Summer months so it is ready when Christmas arrives. Use this Homemade Vanilla recipe for your next time of making a lovely and thoughtful gift.
- Canned Goods – Apple butter or jams that I had made up throughout the year. You can find my Easy Slow Cooker Apple Butter recipe to use and share or try my Ginger Honey Rhubarb Jam recipe.

Hope you enjoy trying some of these DIY goodies and crafts this Christmas!
