Nice to meet you!
Welcome to my website where I share my passion of homemaking, love of thrifted & simple living and joy in motherhood. Here I share posts on from scratch recipes, thrifted home decor, small home living, and my journey towards developing my homemaking. I am looking forward to sharing more with you as I continue to grow my blog.
My story
I grew up in a very small rural town in south central South Dakota. I am the youngest of 4 siblings, and am so grateful for the relationship that I have with each of them. My dad is a grain farmer and so I learned so much about hard work and physical labor. Both of my parents taught me to serve the Lord first and all else will follow. I whole-heartedly believe that and aspire to glofiy God in what I do, including this blog.
My husband and I met in college while I pursued my degree in music education. We married right after graduation and began our journey together. God directed us to land in another small town in South Dakota where we have established a wonderful community and church family. For the first 6 years after marriage I taught K-12 General and Vocal music before I felt God calling me to stay home and raise my daughter and future children to come. In this time after leaving the education field, I grew to love the art of homemaking and sharing the beauty of what it entails through Youtube. Whether it be baking sourdough bread, growing my own garden or creating a home I love with thrifty pieces, I want to strive to do the best I can and honor the Lord.
Both my husband and I are very entreprenural minded. Blaze, my husband of 8 years, started his own e-commerce business and runs his warehouse in our rural town. When he is not managing his business, Blaze and I enjoy working on home projects, gardening and spending time with our two young girls.
We also opened our fixer upper Airbnb guest cottage in the summer of 2022 and are enjoying the different aspects of that adventure.
Check out our guest cottage rental site here.
My hope is that through this blog I can encourage, inspire and motivate. With two little girls and another baby coming, there may be times of absence while I spend time with my family or am caring for my children. Whatever is to come, I hope that you can find hope and encouragement in my little corner of this giant place called the internet. You can make homemaking what you want of it and create a home you love.
Love,
Davee
