Lasagna is a comfort meal through and through. Noodles, cheese and a beef sauce create a simple flavor that is perfect for an easy delicious dish.

The simpleness of this lasagna makes it all the better. There is not much for ingredients and it comes together quite easily. In our house we do not make it as often as my family would like, but when I do, it is a winner for everyone!

Lasagna can have many different variations, but I like to keep things simple when it comes to this recipe. I usually like doubling the recipe and making two of these. One for the freezer and one for enjoying now!

Tips:

~ Make the lasagna ahead of time and bake later. This recipe does well to store uncooked for a day or two in the refrigerator and baking when needed.

~ I like using this organic marinara sauce from Costco. It has no added sugar and has great flavor.

~ Buy oven ready lasagna noodles.

~ I use a raw white cheddar cheese for this recipe. IAny cheese you have on hand does fine. It does not have to be mozarella.

Tools needed for lasagna:

Skillet or large pot

9×13 baking pan

wooden spoon

knife

cutting board

measuring cups

Ingredients:

ground beef

marinara sauce – I like to use this one from Costco.

cheese – Any cheddar or mozarella will work for this recipe.

oven ready lasagna noodles

cottage cheese – I like using 4%

yellow onion – Chopped

salt

pepper

Garlic powder, italian seasoning, basil, parsley (optional) – Any of these would add extra flavor to the lasagna.

How to make the simple lasagna

In a large skillet, dutch oven or pot brown the hamburger. Halfway through browning add in the chopped onion, salt and pepper and any other seasonings you may wish.

After the hamburger is browned, add in the jar of marinara sauce. Reserve a small amount for the bottom of the pan when layering.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Assembly

In a 9×13 glass pan or cake pan spread a small amount of marinara sauce on the bottom. Layer the uncooked noodles, followed by the meat sauce, cottage cheese and then the shredded cheese. Do this layering two more times in the same order.

At this time the lasagna can be baked at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until golden and bubbly. The lasagna can also be refrigerated for a day or two to bake later or frozen and baked when needed.

Thank you for sharing your Lasagna recipe. I will be trying it very soon. I have halved the recipe as most of the time I am cooking and baking just for my husband and myself. Even halved, we will have warm overs. Sweet pleasures and simple blessings for your weekend. Homespun Hugs, Teri
