My family enjoys a good taco night. We eat Mexican style food once a week and this taco skillet bake fits into the meal rotation often. It’s got many of the ingredients that make up a taco, but all in one! If your family is like ours then I think you’ll want to make this skillet meal a regular. Another added bonus is that it is a one pan meal.

Tips for making the skillet bake

Serving of taco bake on a plate with chips sour cream and avocado

~ I like using home canned tomatoes instead of store bought.

~ Use fresh garden tomatoes when they are in season. If using fresh tomatoes it will require longer cooking time.

~ Use any tortilla you like. I have tried it with store bought flour, corn tortillas and raw tortillas.

~ Increase or decrease the spice level with mild, medium or hot salsa.

~ Brown the hamburger ahead of time to make prep work even faster.

Tools needed:

large skillet – I like to use my 10 inch cast iron

wooden spoon

cutting board

knife

measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients for the taco skillet bake:

Ground beef

Canned tomatoes – either home canned or store bought

Frozen or canned corn

Tortillas – Any will do. Cut into 1 inch squares or torn into pieces.

Yellow onion – diced

Salsa
