When out garage sale shopping there are a few tips and tricks that will help you be successful. From keeping small bills handy to looking through the dirty “junk” boxes, these tips will be beneficial for your rummage sale outings.
There’s something exciting about waking up early on a Saturday morning, grabbing a coffee, loading up the kids, and heading out to garage sales. Whether you’re hunting for vintage treasures, affordable furniture, collectibles, or simply love the thrill of finding hidden gems, garage sale shopping can be both fun and rewarding.
But if you’ve ever come home empty-handed—or with things you regretted buying—you know that successful garage sale shopping takes a little strategy. Here are some of the best tips to help you make the most of your next garage sale adventure.

Before heading out, check local Facebook groups, community pages, and garage sale apps to map out your route. Community-wide sales are especially worth visiting because you can stop at multiple sales within a small area.
For example; our local town had city wide sales recently. I mapped out the addresses so I could park in one spot and get the kids and stroller out to walk around.
Planning ahead saves time and helps you hit the best sales before crowds arrive.
Bring the Right Supplies
A few simple items can make your garage sale trip much easier:

- Measuring tape for furniture – there have been too many times I wished I had remembered one of these.
