This is not your traditional oatmeal raisin cookie. With just 3 ingredients of oats, bananas and raisins, it makes for a simplified and healthier alternative. Every once in a while I enjoy a sweeter cookie like my chocolate chip cookie or chewy molasses cookie, however, for the kids and as a better option, I choose to make these banana cookies.

Why to make this cookie

Healthy Alternative: Like I mentioned above, this cookie is a healthier option that the traditional oatmeal raisin cookie. The only sugar comes naturally in the raisins and bananas.

Simple: With a full schedule and life, most of us are looking for easy. This recipe has got you covered.

Delicious: These cookies only last a few days in my house as a family of 5. Everyone including the 1 year old loves these!

Pantry Staples: We all usually have the 3 ingredients that are required to make these cookies. Plus, this is a good way to use those over-ripe bananas that we all tend to have.

Plate with 5 cookies on it and tea towel underneath.

Helpful Tips

Storage:

These cookies should be stored in the refrigerator and will last up to 5 days.

If freezing, store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

Other tips:

Frozen bananas can be used to make these cookies as well. Just make sure to add another 1/4 cup of oats or more to make a sticky consistency.

These cookies are gluten free and dairy free.

The additions for this cookie are endless. The base is three ingredients, but you can add in things like dried cranberries, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, chopped dates, mini chocolate chips and powedered peanut butter.

I prefer using all rolled oats in my cookie, however a mix of instant and rolled can work or even just instant oats.

Ingredients Needed

Bananas: Two over-ripe bananas add a sweetness to the cookie and are easier to mash.

Oats: I like to use rolled oats. This cookie could be made with quick oats and rolled oats or even just quick oats. The texture may be different, but it is still the same idea.

Raisins: A delicious added flavor and natural sweetness to this healthier oatmeal raisin cookie.

Additions: The options are endless for additions in these cookies. Some options that I enjoy are chia seeds, powdered peanut butter, dried cranberries, mini chocolate chips.
