Summertime decor can be kept simple yet beautiful. Bringing in natural elements and budget friendly pieces, makes for lovely summertime decor.
This is a wonderful time of year for many reasons. I love all the warm and longer days, the hours spent in the garden and the time outside with my kids. The inside of my home can sometimes feel neglected. With that said, I want to keep the summertime decor as minimal and simple as possible.
Here are some ways that I decorate simply for the summer:
~ Fresh cut flowers
~ Linens
~ Crocks
~ Vintage Pitchers
~ Art work
~ Sun Hats
~ Faux stems
Much of my decor year round stays the same. There is no need to constantly be changing every little things each time a new season comes. My philosophy is, the decor needs to be functional and/or beautiful to me. Keeping that in mind makes it much easier to create a lovely home.
Fresh Cut Flowers ~ Summertime Decor
Fresh cut flowers are my FAVORITE way to decorate for the summer. I grow a variety of flowers and cut flowers that I bring into my home all summer long. When they start to fade, I simply go and cut what is new in the garden to add to my summertime decor.
Linens ~ Summertime Decor
Linens are a great way to create a simple summertime look. I’ve found many of my kitchen towels on clearance or at thrift shops. Hang a blue and white striped towel over the sink or add one to a peg rack. Simple, beautiful and functional.
Crocks & Vintage Pitchers ~ Summertime Decor
Crocks and pitchers are on my list of decor pieces for each and every season. They are a staple to my collected home. I love using these pieces. They work well for adding the beautiful cut flowers in too!
My table and counters in the kitchen are graced with thrifted or antique store pitchers that I fill with my flowers. The vintage crock on my green side table in the living area is also filled with lovely cut flowers. Each piece just makes me smile, especially when they are holding such lovely flowers from my garden.
Art Work ~ Summertime Decor
Art work is an easy way to quickly add a change of decor for the summertine. Again, this is something I do for almost every season. I found this beautiful blue and green water color picture at a rummage sale for $1! I know it was originally from Hobby Lobby, but it still really adds to my simple decor.
Sun Hats ~ Summertime Decor
Sun hats are such a fun way to add some summertime decor to the home. All my hats, including my hat wall I made in my Bedroom Refresh, were second hand. I will often grab a sun hat to wear out gardening or when we are headed to the lake. Having a few hanging around my home makes for simple and functional decor.
Faux Stems ~ Summertime Decor
Real flowers truly are my favorite way to decorate, however, I few faux stems and flowers can also be a nice addition. The babies breath I found on Amazon adds a sweet touch of minimal floral to different crocks and pitchers I use. These stems are also nice because they do not die and can last the entire season.
I recently purchased these green branch stems to swap out where I usually have eucalyptus. Eucalyptus is great for any season, I just felt like this Summer I wanted a different style of green stem in my glass vase on the our piano.
Summertime, as I said, is a beautiful season. Take time to get outside, create beautiful flower arrangements, whether from your own garden, the store, or wild flowers. Think budget friendly and simple on your home decor. Doing these things will make Summer a wonderful time!
