This delicious caramelized apple cake is a wonderful way to use those fresh apples. There is a softness in every bite along with juicy apples and the moistness of the cake. Top it with the delicious caramel sauce to create a yummy and gooy texture that is over the top.

It is apple season and this is just the recipe to use with those freshly picked apples (or storebought or even frozen apples). Fall apples are also wonderful in my Rustic Apple Crisp or my Easy Butternut Squash Soup. The family will love this cake though as well. Bring to a Fall gathering or to your next church potluck.
Tips for making the best Apple Cake
- Peel the apples. The skin left on the apple will make it harder to chew and ruin the softness of the cake.
- The apples can be diced or sliced into this cake. For the recipe in the pictures I peeled and sliced the apples.
- Bake until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean. Do not over bake or it will not remain as moist.
- Melt the butter. There is no mixer needed for this recipe because the butter does not have to be creamed.
- Nuts would be a nice addition. I did not add them in for this recipe but have added them before.
- This cake will taste just as good the next day as the day you made it.

What you need
Equipment
Large mixing bowl
Measuring spoons
Mixing tool – fork or spatula
9×13 cake pan or baking dish
Ingredients
Cake
Apples – peeled and diced or sliced
Cane sugar – I prefer this type of sugar but refined sugar works as well
Vanilla
Butter – Melt the butter all the way. That is why no mixer is needed.
Eggs
Baking soda
Cinnamon
Flour – unbleached all-purpose works well for this recipe
Salt – Redmond Real salt is my favorite in any recipe
Chopped nuts – optional
Caramel Drizzle
Butter
Brown sugar
Heavy cream or vanilla ice cream – Yes you read that right. If you want it a bit sweeter or do not have cream on hand ice cream works well.
How to make caramalized apple cake
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix sugar and butter together. Stir in eggs and vanilla until well combined. Add in the dry ingredients – salt, flour, baking soda and cinnamon.
Fold in the peeled and diced or sliced apples. Batter will seem really thick but do not be worried.
Spread the cake batter in the greased 9×13 pan.

Bake for 55 minutes in the preheated 350 degree oven.

Caramel Topping
In a small saucepan bring the butter, brown sugar and heavy cream or ice cream to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes while constantly stirring.
Pour over cut pieces of cake just before serving. Cake is good warm or cold.

Store on counter for 3 days or in fridge for 5 days.
