Affordable Spring Decor

March 13, 2025 by Davee Kilian Leave a Comment

Affordable spring decor can be hard to find if you are wanting to stay on a budget and keep a timeless and stylish look. These tips and ideas on decorating, will help you find affordable spring decor for your home that is timeless.

Looking for Spring decor that doesn’t just have a “big box” store look can be challenging if you are not sure what to look for. There are cute Spring items at stores like Hobby Lobby, Walmart and Target, but to me I don’t just want Easter bunnies and eggs all over my house. A timeless look that lasts the entire season is important and it also needs to be affordable.

Here are some items to use when decorating for Spring with simplicity and a budget in mind.

Here is how to decorate for Spring and how to find decor affordably!

Shop thrift stores and second hand

I could just stop sharing right here as this is my number one tip on how to find decor on a budget, but don’t worry, I’ve got more I want to share. So many people take their “stuff” to thrift stores or have garage sales that it’s almost impossible not to find something that fits your Spring decor style.

Find a basket for just a couple dollars, fill it with some faux stems for less than five dollars and place it on a side table. You have a little piece of Spring decor!

I could go on with ways that I have found pieces at thrift stores or sales and used them in my home, but I’ll get to more of that later in the tips on decorating.

Use what you already have

Many of you may be thinking that you do not have any Spring decor in your home. It may not look like the typical bunnies, eggs and “Hoppy Easter” signs you see at big box stores. But, everyone has extra decor in storage. It could be a tall glass vase that you fill with sprigs from outside, it could be a colorful stack of books that you arrange on a side table or coffee table or it could be some vintage floral plates of your grandmothers that you decide to hang on a wall. The options are endless for using what we already have, it may just take some creativity and thinking outside the norm.

Buy with longevity in mind

Several of my Spring decor items that I have purchased new are meant to last many years. I buy items fomr decorating with the intent of using them year after year. One of my favorite items are these faux tulips from Amazon. They have been in my Spring decor for over three years now. The stems look real and are only a dollar each! Pillow covers can be another example of lasting years or art work. These decor pieces go on rotation, so they do not get the wear and tear that other items do being used year round. Investing in new and nice pieces is worth it when they can be used for many, many years.

Bring the outdoors in

Affordable spring decor (or free) is easy when we bring nature indoors. In early March when I decorate for Spring there is not much green or life outside, however, I’ve used tree branches that are budding and added them to a decorative vase. When more blooms are happening, I will cut blossoming tree branches or cut tulips and daphodils to display in a vase. It’s not only free it’s a natural way to bring life into the home.

Keep it simple

This Spring decor tip may seem odd, but I hold fast to keeping decor simple. The saying, “less is more” is always a good reminder. Not every shelf or surface needs to have something on it. With having less decor, more money can be saved and the budget is kept. Also most people do not enjoy walking into a home that is full of that seasons decor.

What to use for Spring decor

Baskets

This is one of the most versatile decor piececs ever. I have found almost all my baskets thrifting and use them in different ways for every season.

Artwork

Artwork can be swapped out to match the seasonal changes. For Spring decor, all my pieces I use were found second hand. A floral piece, a landscape, a water color and even dried flowers in a frame are all part of my Spring artwork collection.

Faux Stems

I mentioned above about tulips that I have found on Amazon that I just love for Spring decor. The tulips along with some babies breath are some florals that I use for this season. Eucalyptus is also a stem I use often in my home decor, just to add some green to my space.

Pillow Covers

Not everyone likes to swap out pillow covers each season, but that is something that I enjoy and that I think adds life to my home for Spring. Pillow covers are relatively affordable. Invest in a quality insert and change out the cover to bring some change to the space. The pillow covers I chose this year after having used my other ones for several years are a vintage floral pattern. They will probably even be part of my Summer decor as they are quite lovely and will transition nicely.

Dishware

Vintage plates and platters are a unique way to add decor to any home in any season. For the Spring, add a few floral or white dishes to the kitchen. These beautiful plates can be used for serving food or for hanging on the wall. I’ve collected several different plates over the years that have been found thrifting or have been given to me from relatives.

Hats and Outerwear

Using practical pieces for decor just makes sense. Adding a sun hat to a hook, placing rain boots along a wall or putting an umbrella in a basket can be Spring decor.

As you can see the options for Spring decor can be endless. Think timeless and outside of the box to create a beautiful home for the Spring season!

Happy Spring Friends!
