  • 8-9 pears small -medium size, peeled, cored & sliced
  • 2 TBS brown sugar dark or light
  • 2 TBS flour all-purpose unbleached
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

For Topping

  • 3 TBS brown sugar dark or light
  • 4 TBS butter softened or mostly melted
  • salt a pinch

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 °F
  • Peel, core and slice the pears.
  • Put them in a bowl and toss with brown sugar, cinnamon and the two tablepoons flour. Put the mixture into a greased 8x8 inch or 1.5 quart baking dish. Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the crisp topping. Stir together the flour, oats, brown sugar and butter. Mix until it resembles coarse crumbs, but still moist.
  • Spoon the crumb topping onto the pears.
  • Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45-55 minutes or until edges are bubbly and topping is browned.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes.
  • Enjoy warm with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

    • Peel the pears. If the skin is left on, it makes the fruit filling have a chewier texture to eat.
    • Rolled or quick oats work for this recipe.
    • Add thickener. Do not omit the flour or the fruit may be overly runny once it is baked.
    • Store on counter for 3 days or in fridge for 5.
    • Feel free to try other fruit.
